At the 2008 NAMM Show, we were honored to be named Dealer of the Year for the second consecutive year by Bourgeois Guitars

Bonni and Steve

Two of our favorite people, and two of the best in the business: Bonni Lloyd of Bourgeois Guitars and Steve McCreary of Collings Guitars

Guitars

Acoustic Music Works keeps about two hundred acoustic guitars in stock. These include the finest factory built steel string and resonator guitars, as well as a few archtops, and some impressive classical guitars. We feature the region's best selection of professional grade steel string guitars from Collings, Huss & Dalton, Bourgeois, Goodall, Beard, Lowden, National Resophonic, Breedlove, Gallagher, Eastman, and Composite Acoustic. We also carry intermediate grade instruments from Breedlove and Blueridge, and from time to time, custom guitars by individual luthiers.

Here is a sampling of our guitar inventory. We buy, sell, trade, and invite consignments. We do our best to keep the website updated. The occasional price flub or typographical error should be interpreted as folksy charm, not deviousness. No auto-responders here, all e-mails receive a personal, prompt and courteous reply. We get a *lot* of e-mail, and we reply to every message. If you don't receive a reply, please call or try again as that means the mail server or our overly assertive spam-filter is on the fritz. Stuff happens.

Collings guitars are made in Austin, Texas, and are arguably the finest steel string guitars being built today and are quite likely tomorrow's collectible instruments. They exhibit remarkable craftsmanship, and offer exceptional playability, stability, responsiveness, volume and punch. We keep a wide and varied inventory, and fill a LOT of special orders, but Collings guitars sell through here very quickly. We particularly like their mahogany, maple, koa, and Brazilian rosewood guitars and their use of Adirondack and German spruce, but honestly, they seem incapable of building a bad guitar. We've done our homework and listened, listened, listened, and really know what makes these guitars tick. Collings guitars just fly out of here (over 100 Collings instruments sold in 2006). If you see something you like, please call. They go fast. Certain models are downright impossible to keep in stock, and we always have a bunch (currently over fifty) on order. We have stock orders scheduled well into 2010 but have build slots held in reserve to accomodate special orders. Every now and then, we have something VERY special in the works or tucked away in back that does not get listed on our website. Some folks ask us not to display their custom order treasures. We take a lot of pre-sold special orders, many of which don't get listed here. If you don't see what you are looking for, please call or e-mail. We love to talk about Collings guitars and we invite custom orders. If you have a used Collings to trade or consign, we have a "want list" for certain models and we are fair and we go the extra mile. Used Collings guitars hold value and they sell quickly. Try us first!

Here's a photo taken at the 2006 NAMM Show in LA. That's the two Steves. Our Steve and Steve McCreary just gushing over the new varnish finish D1A guitar. A new standard for flat top steel string guitars.

Collings OM1 koa German Just arrived (NEW) Oh my! We try to get several of these koa OMs each year, as Collings locates the most magnificent koa for us, and we are never disappointed. We have a special fondness for koa guitars, particularly those topped with good German spruce. So we present our first 2008 Collings OM1koa-G. Just a perfectly clean basic OM1 enhanced by richly flamed koa back and sides, and that melodious German spruce top. 1 and 3/4" nut width of course. The koa on this guitar is simply delicious, with striking three dimensional figure and depth. And speaking of depth, the guitar has that exotic tonal richness that comes from German spruce, mixed with that dark haunting reverby overtone of koa. A particularly handsome and sophisticated sounding guitar. List Price: $5,450 Our

Maple German
in transit (NEW) And now for something a little bit different. We don't sell a lot of maple guitars. We believe that is because most people have never played a good maple guitar. They've too many brand G and brand T maples that have let them down. Sit down and play a maple Collings sometime! For all of those that are complaining about sore shoulders and threatening to shelve your dreadnoughts, consider a Collings OM. Fiesty, loud, and proud. What does maple do to an an OM? It adds quickness, a fierce presence and projection. What does German spruce do to the top? It adds sustain and depth. We dressed this one up with tortoise binding, style 3 backstrip, fretboard and headstock binding and extra purfling. Oh, and a 1 and 3/4" nut width, of course. List Price: $5,000 Our

Koa

shade top
Just arrived and simply precious (NEW) We've ordered this DELUXE custom C-10 before, and I am sure we will order it again. AAA grade Koa back and sides with a superb looking German spruce top, with Western shade-top sunburst, custom koa backstrip, 1 and 3/4" nut width, flourish headstock inlay and the ebony knobbed nickel Waverly tuners. Just a delightful small guitar with a sophisticated dark voice and deep sustain. A cowboy guitar for a mighty sophisticated cowboy. Yippie-yi-yo-ki-yay SOLD

Deep Body
Just arrived and just look at her!! (NEW) We get to see a lot of mighty cool custom Collings guitars here. We've had C-10 guitars in just about every flavor. We decided to throw the kitchen sink at this one, because we love this guitar model and it seems to work on so many levels. So here we go: A custom C-10 DEEP body MAHOGANY topped guitar with the modified-V OM style neck and square headstock. Did we stop there? Of course not - a guitar like this needs the FULL BODY VINTAGE SUNBURST. Did we stop there? Silly question. We had them build it light and use a BRAZILIAN rosewood fingerboard and bridge for tone and cool factor on this puppy. Stop there? Never! We added full body, neck, and headstock binding in tortoise with some additional purfling on the fingerboard. We requested the 1 and 3/4" nut width (of course)and nickel Waverly tuners with ebony knobs(of course)and the most fantastic Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay. Owww!! She's got a belly bridge just in case you want to run medium strings and drive her hard, but we had her set up and strung with lights at the factory. She's mighty and she's cool! She's light (3.7 pounds) and she just sings. The deep body adds a fullness that actually makes this an ideal all around guitar. Sized somewhere between a C10 and a CJ, she's more like a C-13. Those of you who ask us to call when someting *really* special arrives?? Consider yourself called. List Price: $5,800 Our

Collings OM2G cut
German spruce
cutaway
Just arrived (NEW) It always takes a good long time to get a cutaway from Collings. It's always worth the wait, and it is rare for us to have one in stock. To have one in stock with a German spruce top is even more rare. But here she is: just a great looking OM2 (no herringbone) in German with cutaway and the 1 and 3/4" nut width, of course. A great sounding guitar with access to, and the appropriate voice for, the highest registers. Very nice! List Price: $4,750 Our

Collings OM1

koa

short scale
Just arrived (NEW) Another set of koa that defies description. The OM1 is Collings' entry level guitar. We've souped this one up with high grade flamed koa, an abalone rosette, style three backstrip, and some fabulous German spruce. 1 and 3/4" nut width, strap button, and SHORT SCALE. The tone is midrangey, complex, and dark, with lots of sustain. The feel is perfect, and the look is off the charts. A beautiful new guitar that feels like an old friend. SOLD
Collings OM1Ass-cut Just arrived (NEW)The classic Collings mahogany OM - you know how we feel about mahogany - well this one is very lightly built and was ordered with some mighty cool upgrades (Adirondack spruce top, style 3 backstrip, short scale, CUTAWAY, CW pickguard, pyramid bridge, and 1 and 3/4" nut width.) It is an inspired custom guitar and it is, not surprisingly, RESERVED . Wow! Light and loose and open and rich and twangy and thick and warm and crisp and.....perfect! Just an amazing fingerstyle guitar. (JG) SOLD

VARNISH
Just arrived and just amazing (NEW) A certain melancholy overcomes us as we greet our last ten or twelve Collings Brazilians. As you know by now, there will be no more. These orders, placed several years ago for fine AAA Brazilian guitars, are a weekend at the World Series for us, they are the highlight of our daze. As the media predicts the tenth recession of the last three, and cynics accuse us of driving the price of Brazilian through the roof, we ponder these rare and precious great guitars and smaller issues dissipate with the melting snow. We present this lightly crafted *classic* OOO Collings in AAA grade Brazilian rosewood with the lovliest of German spruce tops, a SHORT SCALE, a pryamid bridge, a slotted headstock with 1 and 3/4" nut width and the three on a tree bronze Waverly tuners. Did we fail to mention the abalone rosette, the CW pickguard, and that sonic soup, that surreal syrup of sound, the Collings VARNISH finish? The varnish over the Collings logo makes it look like 100 year old stained glass Ahhh, forgive us for getting giddy over a guitar like this. It's pretty, but oh my gawd...it just sounds AMAZING. The varnish finish imparts a deep warm, aged sound that is just unobtainable in a new lacquer guitar. The Brazilian is fine, but the German top is *superb*! It feels loose. It sounds old. It purrs like a Porche and it vibrates in ones lap. SOLD
Collings 16" archtop
Sunburst
Just arrived and may we ask for a moment of silence......(NEW) The Mona Lisa, the Tower in our Pizza, the Top, the tip, the &*%@! Honestly, of everything we carry, and oh we do carry the GOOD stuff, the Collings archtop guitars are the things that cause all activity to squeal to a halt here. Everyone in the shop drops what they are doing to ponder, to drool, and explore the fine details of the functional art Collings calls his archtop. We've got seven or eight people in our want list for this obnoxiously fine guitar, and we will begin calling and e-mailing them today after we wipe Moe's saliva off the pickguard of this wondrous beast. It is the 34th 16" archtop from Collings. We see one every 18 to 24 months. We don't expect it to last past 12 Noon today. Moe's hands are trembling. The guitar has been SOLD. SOLD
Collings D3 custom Varnish (SOLD) (NEW) A very special project, for a very special man, one year in the making. Another oh so magnificient Collings guitar from that dwindling stash of premium Brazilian rosewood there that we like so much - straight grain, loaded with color, and sonically superior. A real treasure - this set is AAA grade all the way, baaaby. So here we go: D3BaaaA custom - AAA grade Brazilian rosewood, ULTRA high grade select Adirondack spruce, Adirondack braces, no tongue brace, 1 and 3/4" nut width, Vintage Now neck and bridge, torch inlaid in the headstock, strap button installed, cut through saddle, and ( need we say more?)the elixir of the Gawds: Bill Collings' VARNISH finish. Just a spectacular custom guitar that requires no explanation. About as good as it gets. What a pleasure it will be to deliver this guitar to its deserving owner. Thank You Ken! SOLD
Collings OO-42BaaaA (SOLD) (NEW) It was on a trip to Staten Island, about fifteen years ago - the first Collings guitar I ever played was a Brazilian rosewood OO-42. It touched something deep inside and elevated my impression of what a guitar could be. It pretty much ruined me for what I was playing at the time and set me on a journey and career path that culminated in doing everything I can to promote those profound Austin guitar wizards and evangelize their instruments. Well, just for fun and old times sake then, let's conjur up a AAA grade Brazilian OO-42 for store stock while such a thing is still possible. Note: It is no longer possible to get Brazilian like this from Collings so that someone can walk in here and have *their* life changed. I'm excited. Wanna buy some portable magic? Here is the truth. This guitar is positively spectacular - quite possibly the *best* sounding fingerstyle guitar in this, or any other, guitar shop. Want to join a very small club of very lucky people who own one of the finest things money can buy? Here's your ticket. With Brazilian rosewood availability at an historic low, I can't think of anything else to say. $11,900. Stock market a little bumpy? This one is better than an S&P Index Fund. Sell your Bear Sterns stock, buy the Brazilian. SOLD SOLD
Collings D2H sunburst Just arrived! (NEW) A very handsome D2H guitar with dark sunburst, herringbone trim, and all that Collings muscle. SItka top, 1 and 3/4" nut width, nickel Waverly tuners and plenty of spirit. Loud and sweet, a big sounding flatpicker for sure. No one does sunburst quite like Collings, and this handsome fella is just in time for the holidays. A little big for a stocking stuffer, but it sure makes the bells jingle. List Price: $4,400 Our

Collings D1Asb Just arrived (NEW) Our best selling model, the Collings D1A. It really doesn't require a lot of explanation. It has taken its place among the finest mahogany dreadnoughts ever conceived. As guitars go, it is, as Moe has said many times, the "one to have when you are having only one". If you've spent any time at all on this website you've seen dozens and dozens of world class custom D1A guitars come and go quickly. We hang our hat on this model. This one will be a 2008 model sunburst D1A with 1 and 3/4" nut width, CW style pickguard, nickel Waverlies, and a style three backstrip. It will be pretty and it will be powerful. Pretty powerful. If you've decided to step up to a serious guitar, here's your ticket up. Your ticket out of the world of lesser guitars. List Price: $5,325 Our

This current one features gorgeous flame maple back and sides with sitka top, nickel Waverly tuners, and 1 and 3/4" nut width. Not too fancy, just good. Darned good. In fact, a great blues guitar, with thwack and snarl and a dark punchy side. Great projection, nice bottom. Strong fundamentals...and good manners. List Price: $4,400 Our

Collings C10Mh hog top custom camper Just arrived (NEW) Oh, how we love the Collings C-10. We think it is the most versatile guitar that Collings builds, and many of our customers have several of them. Here's one you probably do not have. It's a C-10 hog top camper. VARNISH
Off the charts (NEW) We tell it like it is here. And let there be no confusion about what our definition of "is" is. This guitar *is* why we love guitars. A November surprise. A fancy custom Collings CJ with mahogany back and sides, Adirondack top, dark SUNBURST, with flourish on the headstock, 1 and 3/4" nut width, tigerstripe pickguard and Uncle Bill's mystery oil: VARNISH finish. Arrived earlier than expected. We didn't expect to see this guitar until 2008. Ready for the last guitar you will ever need? Quite a treat for the eyes and ears. Like roaring thunder, like comfort food. Like autumn weather, like inner peace. Imagine the sound of utter contentment. Think it looks good? It sounds better. It sounds butter. It's pure joy. Just scary good. List price: $7,250 SOLD
Collings CJMhAssSB-VARN Just arrived (NEW) Been waiting over a year for this one. The new "it" guitar for 2008. The BIG deal, a dark tobacco sunburst Collings CJ in mahogany with Adirondack spruce top, in SHORT SCALE and slow roasted and sauteed in Texas Tone juice, that musical mudpack, that hand rubbed Collings varnish finish. We've been looking forward to this one for some time, and it rings our bell. Sorry we can't get out to get natural lighting for the photos. The pics don't do this guitar justice, but we think you get the idea. It's drop-dead gorgeous with tone to match. Another home run from the Texas A-team. Short scale and varnish, an amazing combination. The ultimate strummer. Sounds 30 years old old. (GD) SOLD

maple SS
Just arrived! (NEW) Oh we have been exploring that deep maple mine at Collings. This is a custom CJ *deluxe* in flame maple with sitka spruce top and SHORT SCALE, tortoise binding on the body, neck, and headstock, abalone rosette, flourish on the headstock, ebony knobs on nickel Waverlies, and 1 and 3/4" nut width. Want to play Ragtime music with room filling piano-like projection? Want an easy-playing warm but "quick" maple guitar with LOTS of bottom end? A maple jumbo from the King of Schwing! This guitar is exactly what the doctor ordered for that big maple thump and rumble. Just a drop dead gorgeous guitar as expected with highly flamed maple and perfect appointments. But the *SOUND*, oh doctor, the sound has healing powers! Drop what you are doing, drive here and try this guitar! We had our doctor, our blues-buddy Ernie Hawkins, spend fifteen delightful minutes with this guitar. (see the pics) Ernie called it "a guitar that has all its parts" and "a guitar that loves the key of F." That's a little cryptic, but oh he made the guitar sing. It has a HUGE bootom end on it, not maple-bright at all. In fact, Ernie called it "warm, dark and dry." It's a blues guitar. It's a rocking blues guitar. List Price: $5,375 Our

Collings CJ custom
mahogany SS
Just arrived (NEW) A regular custom offering for us - a SHORT SCALE mahogany Collings Jumbo with sitka spruce top. Very Gibsonesque, like a J-50 on the juice. The last one looked like this and was a loose cannon with room filling warmth. Ever play a really good sounding old Gibson J-50 and say to yourself "wow, imagine how great it would be to find a new guitar built by someone like..oh maybe Bill Collings, that sounded like this but had that great Collings neck and perfect intonation and road worthy stability and insane sizzle and rip?" Well if you have (and WHO HASN'T??) look no further. Less stiff, but somehow more filling. We always try to have this model in stock or on order, and five minutes with this guitar will explain why. Reminds us very much of this *great* 1958 Gibson J-50 that we use, and Ernie Hawkins helps us validate, as a reference for these things. Extremely versatile guitar with wide dynamic range. Loose but loaded, full but not stuffed, subtle not strident, warm but never hot. A grownup's guitar. $ 4,650 ON HOLD (JH) ON HOLD

Just arrived (NEW) If the O1 above got you excited (and if it didn't, you need to be checked for a pulse) then howzabout we order one up in vintage full body sunburst? We've also added an ebony headstock overlay and fretboard and headstock binding (tortoise) with that additional tasteful crosscut ivoroid purfling line that Moe likes so much. Moe is on a roll. It's "Hog" Heaven around here with all these great small body mahogany topped guitars. Moe's strutting around here like a peacock as good folks come by and sample the good mahogany. The flash pics make the burst look more yellow than it is - the natural lighting pics are more accurate (it's a gorgeous vintage tobacco/brown burst) List Price: $5,150 Our

Collings O2-Gsb Just arrived (NEW) These 14 fret O bodied Collings have been a *big* hit for us - quite different than their slightly larger 12 fret OO cousins. This O-2 "hold the H" (no herringbone) is a custom model with German spruce top, 1 and 3/4" nut width, pyramid bridge, and that famous and fabulous Collings sunburst. This small guitar, and it is a small guitar, packs a powerful loose punch and has fat trebles and sustain which will ruin you for larger guitars. It also has a very full low end. Of the O's we've known, and we've known a few, this one has the most impressive bass. East Indian and German, I've been telling you! It's all there. No one will suspect this is your "travel guitar" if you know what we mean. We know of what we speak. C'mon over. List Price: 4,750 Our

Collings O1AVsb SOLD (NEW) Purchased at the Summer NAMM Show in Austin(July 2007) this O1AVsb small body guitar with a big voice was the hit of the NAMM Show - a turbocharged parlor guitar with a style one sunburst and a Texas pedigree. A four pound firecracker (actually 3.7 pounds with a Vintage Now neck) with that combintaion of mahogany and Adirondack spruce that needs no "splainin, Lucy. Bigger guitars should sound as good as this small guitar. All guitars should be built this well. Trust us, all guitars should make you feel this good when you play them. $5,250 The O's are flying out of here! (MC) SOLD
Collings OM1A Just arrived (NEW) Standard Collings OM1A - mahogany orchestra model with ADIRONDACK spruce top, 1 and 3/4" nut width, with nickel Waverlies and ebony headstock overlay. This was to be a varnish guitar - but we changed the spec to lacquer in order to get it sooner (this year!) She's here and she is beautiful. Nice stiff Adirondack spruce top with some bold red streaks. No mistaking this top for anything other than Red spruce! Great guitar for someone who wants a dual purpose flatpick/fingerstyle OM with lots of bass, plenty of volume, and above average punch and cut. Fresh pics. List Price: $4,525 Our

Collings C10Mh custom Just Arrived and Just killer!! (NEW) Moe confesses a particular affection for the hardwood topped all-mahogany guitar. Face it, very few of Moe's customers have just one guitar, and we don't generally recommend a hog-top guitar as one's primary axe, but for the special purpose, blues, open tuning, ragtime, cranium re-booting, fresh idea guitar - a Hog Top can be a fresh breeze, a plateau buster, and a wakeup call. With tortoise binding, nickel Schaller tuners, 1 and 3/4" nut width, and pickguard on the side, this simply appointed guitar is all meat and no pudding. (SM/JH) Mighty fine!! Moe spent a few precious moments this afternoon "birthing" this guitar and oh how sweet she is. At first strum, she gave off a harp-like sizzling flurry that turned every head in the shop. When he dug in, the guitar revealed its true personality, that of ballsy blues guitar, with intimidating headroom and thwack. A few were heard to say, "that guitar just sings", but Moe prefers to say "this guitar takes no prisoners". This guitar inflames Moe's testosterone. This guitar is the perfect remedy for that what ails ya. List Price: $3,850 Our

We go with deep bodied C-10's quite often, but the short scale coupled with East Indian rosewood standard depth C-10s have a particular fullness and sweetness, with warm wet sparkle and a low frequency richness that makes great use of the L-OO body size. We've done this before, and we'll do it again. Nothing "standard" about a Deluxe sunburst short scale Collings C-10, that's for darn sure. Collings C10sb custom (NEW) An industrial strength guitar for a good man who has paid his dues and now wants to play the Blues. Perhaps the coolest guitar that Collings makes, we love it in every flavor (koa, maple, rosewood, you name it) but for the Blues, Moe thinks that mahogany is the Katz peejays. This one is a regular working man's mahogany git-box topped with mannish Sitka spruce and bound in ivoroid to provide a nice contrast against the ever-so-masculine Collings dark vintage sunburst finish and the Gibsonesque firestripe tortoise style pickguard. Testosterone and tortoise, lumber and love. For the big man who's not ashamed to cry. Nickel Waverly tuners with ivoroid knobs and 1 and 3/4" nut width. This very light (3.5 pounds on the nose) guitar sings with a woody sincerity and a classic balanced tone that makes it a superb choice for fingerstyle blues or light strumming. Simply perfect. 0407C4 List Price: $3,850 Our

Collings D1A custom Just arrived (NEW) Our best selling model, and one for which we are well known. This is one of our custom models with no tongue brace, light build, 1 and 3/4" nut, *no* fretboard inlay and WIDE grain "barn wood" Adirondack spruce top, Adirondack spruce braces, fancy Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer, and tone to the bone. Collings D1A: The one to have when you are having only one. Moe spent a few minutes getting to know this one. His personal guitar is similarly configured, and he looks for the right combination of woodiness and breathiness. It's a subtle thing. Some say these have slightly more bass than a standard D1A, some say they have less ferocity. Dunno. This one *has* plenty o' ferocity, I'll tell you that. They got that old pre-war thang going on, just an extra wisp of woof. These are also great candidates for a low-action light gauge string dreadnought if your style is something other than hairy-armed bluegrasser. Life is short. You decide. $4,575 SOLD (TC) SOLD
Collings D1A custom (varnish) (SOLD) (NEW) The new standard for flat top steel string guitars Moe's House of Mahogany welcomes one of our custom D1As (wide straight grain, minimal streaking Red spruce, lightly built, no tongue brace, lighter walnut stain on mahogany, style 3 backstrip, 1 and 23/32" nut width, highly figured Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay, pearl torch inlay in headstock, nickel Waverlies with snakewood knobs, drop in saddle) with the new Collings VARNISH finish. Trust us. You need to get you one of these. Ordered Jan, 2006, arrived late October. Oh Mama!! Be still my heart! This is the one. You know, we sell a bunch of D1As, custom and otherwise, and we really do know a great one when we hear one. This is, hands down, the guitar I want to be buried with. Unfortunately, I am shipping it to Boulder, to the luckiest man in Colorado. Seriously folks, a varnish D1A is one of those items that defies description. Now, the varnish is a thinner finish and if you are one of those folks (you know who you are) who looks at these amazing Collings guitars with a magnifying glass for the slightest variation or "flaw", if you are looking for polished glass and impossibly perfect and level finish thickness, the varnish finish is not for you. Real humans apply this stuff and it's quite organic and labor intensive. Having said that, Collings is known to exceed human standards and as varnish finishes go, we've not seen one finer. That Collings guy, he doesn't settle, and neither should you. Tone? This thing makes grown men cry. Oh, stop yer wining. Does the varnish make a difference? Of course it does. Is it worth it? ($2000) That's up to you. Does your playing require it? Again, that's between you and your chief financial officer. Is the varnish as resilient and protective a finish as lacquer? No, of course not. If you play outdoors in 95 degree heat, buy a lacquer D1A and leave the varnish in your recording studio. Will a varnish D1A change your life? Yes, decidedly yes. Always nice to have a two-time Winfield National Guitar Champ stop by and validate our opinion of a killer guitar, as Robert Shafer did for this one (see pics) Oh, life is good. SOLD

Regarding Brazilian, do we hear a difference? Yes, for the thousandth time, yes. There just *is* a difference. With no more Brazilian orders being accepted by Collings, this A grade Brazilian CW is a great opportunity, still priced at 2007 level. $8000 ON HOLD (AS) ON HOLD

Collings electrics
Turn it up!! Speaking of new standards? We're purists. We're snobs. It's too loud and we're too old...whatever...We're all about *acoustic* music here, but we've been drawn to the proverbial crossroads (turns out they are right outside of Austin, Texas) and encountered a very persuasive gentleman there - that Bill Collings fellow is a little intense, but he made a very compelling argument so we traded him our acoustic soul. To see the result, check out our new and positively brilliant line of Collings electric guitars...we find them to be electric guitars for grownups - with incredible fit and finish, great hand wound pickups which produce a fat sound that has a lot of air in it. Clean, bestowed of Texas Twang, sophisticated sounding electrics that carry on the great Collings sonic tradition. They are a players dream. A full stick of butter. Beautifully crafted new American classics. We can't keep them in stock.

Collings I-35 Prototype (NEW) - With our high ranking among Collings' top dealers, we were given our choice of the Austin NAMM Show debut electrics, and the choice was a fairly simple one for us. This I-35 Deluxe blonde (natural finish) with optional *premium quilt top* double cutaway carved top semi-hollow guitar is altogether handsome, positively electric, impressively lightweight and perfectly balanced, has Bill's DNA on it and in it, and is a harbinger of great things to come. Had me a pretty hip '66 ES330 when I was just a wee lad. Forty years later, this seems somehow appropriate - like a grownup's version of that guitar. We've got several dozen of the new Collings electrics on order (more I35, City Limits and 290 models) and more in mind. The availability is extremely limited and ETA's are uncertain at this time. Call or write if you'd like to discuss them. Many are reserved already and the factory backlog is growing daily. We expect demand to exceed supply for the first three years. This first VERY special one (inscribed NAMM #9) is highly collectible and NOT FOR SALE at this time. Not for Sale at this time

A very recent (serial # 13234) warm and super responsive style three mahogany OM topped with beautiful German spruce, 1 and 3/4" nut width, abalone rosette, gold Waverlies, pyramid bridge, no pickguard, and that certain something in the way she moves me. A very light fingerstyle OM, this is a guitar model that we know well and we are delighted that it will be here ON CONSIGNMENT. A very smart man told me recently that German topped Collings guitars, when capoed at the seventh fret, have the projection and timbre of a fine mandolin. We like the sound of that. This is a *smokin* good guitar in immaculate condition. It is a prize and it is SOLD (AK) SOLD

Collings 0001-A cutaway Just arrived (USED) From the same gentleman. This one we did not sell him, but he tells us it's a dandy, and we trust his opinion, but he's got others that he plays more often. You see, he's found contentment with just two guitars (perish the thought!) and has these others that aren't being played much. So, he's consigning them to us, thank you. Just arrived: This is a FINE Collings OOO in mahogany with an Adirondack spruce top and a cutaway! Yee Doggies! Very unusual and fortuitous to find a cutaway on a Collings OOO. And while we are discussing fortuitousness, let me direct you to these very desirable custom features: a solid headstock with a 1 and 3/4" nut width and 2 and 3/16" saddle spacing. A brilliant custom model. Lists new for over $5,800. My, oh my, what a well conceived guitar! It has arrived, it is grand, it is in near mint condition. The condition is GREAT, the price is GREAT, and the guitar sounds GREAT. It is ON CONSIGNMENT. What more could one want? $3,995
Collings 0001-G Just arrived (USED) From another thoughtful and trusted customer, a little more early Spring Cleaning. We've sold this good customer a few mighty fine guitars, and we've taken a few in trade from him. He knows his guitars and his trades and consignments are always a worthy adventure. This Collings OOO he tells us is graced with some fine figured mahogany and beautiful tight grain German spruce, 1 and 13/16" nut width, no pickguard, pyramid bridge, 2 and 5/16" saddle spacing, and slotted headstock. That is a wood combination that we know well and we are delighted that it will be here ON CONSIGNMENT. Fresh pics. Nice sounding guitar! It is warm with sophisticated overtone, soft but never mushy, and has impressive sustain. It is equally suited for standard tuning or open tuning, but it is a killer drop D or open tuning six string. $3, 250
Collings OOO1Asb custom Just arrived (USED) Coming in on trade from a man who has a stable of great guitars, but has a spousal-imposed "one in, one out" rule when he purchases a new one (which he just did, a varnish OM1A, thank you very much) So back (we sold it new originally) comes one of our very favorite CUSTOM Adirondack topped, pyramid bridged, style one sunbursted, fancy "3" series backstripped, ivoroid bound, slotted headstocked, dalmatian pickguarded Collings 12 fret OOO guitars with a custom 1 and 3/4" nut width. Study that component list one more time and I think you'll agree this might just be the one you've been looking for. List price on a new one similarly configured would be $5950 and would sell for $5355. This one's about one and a half years old and looks essentially as it did when it left here new, with only light player wear. Been played just enough to develop the Adirondack top a good bit. Just arrived. Fabulous looking and superb sounding. Nothing else needs to be said. It's a prize. $4,300
It's no longer a regional secret. Jeff Huss & Mark Dalton build mighty impressive guitars, and we're bustin' with pride to have the best selection in the world, and to have been named their Top Dealer for 2004, 2005 and again for 2006!! The photos below were taken at the various NAMM shows after Tim Nelson, Huss & Dalton's sales manager, presented Steve with the Top Dealer plaque. The second photo was taken at the 2006 NAMM Show (that's ol' Jeff Huss on the left) after we were presented with the Top Dealer Award for 2005, solidifying a trend we will work hard to continue. The third photo shows Tim's exhuberance over the custom 2007 NAMM Show transparent black custom MJ (maple) that will be gracing our our shop after the show. It has Albert Lee's DNA all over it.

A lighter build style than the Collings guitars but with similar fit and finish, Huss & Dalton's tone is often described as "woody", "balanced", "alive", and "open". We, literally, can't get enough of them. Sure, they build *GREAT* Bluegrass guitars - that's a given. But they don't stop there. We particularly like their 12 fret OO and other small body guitars, their mid-jumbo guitars, their use of wood bindings, and their sunburst finishes. Their maple, walnut, and koa guitars are among the best we've heard. With over 2000 guitars under their belts now, (we have serial #2001 in our inventory) these guys are shipping consistently amazing instruments. They also offer custom guitars of exceptional value - with comparatively reasonable up-charges for exotic tonewoods and custom features. This list represents just a *portion* of our Huss & Dalton inventory and orders. We always have build slots on reserve. If you don't see what you are looking for, please call or e-mail. We love to talk about Huss & Dalton guitars and we invite special orders. Don't settle on your next guitar until you have tried a Huss & Dalton! As Huss & Dalton's top dealer, we're always looking for more. If you have a used Huss & Dalton to trade or consign, we go the extra mile. We know what makes these guitars tick and we know good lumber when we hear it. Try us first!

Huss & Dalton MJ custom
Black stain over flame maple
and bearclaw spruce
2007 NAMM guitar (NEW) - The Mid Jumbo MJ Huss and Dalton is one of our favorite guitar models. We've had it in almost every flavor. Here's the 2007 NAMM Show Special MJ custom (also pictured above in the shot with Steve and Tim Nelson) This guitar is quite difficult to photograph accurately but very easy to love. LOUD, and deep sounding - goes flatpick or fingerstyle equally well. Very unique black translucent stain over bearclaw spruce and flame maple. Here's a treat: Koa bindings, tuner knobs and pickguard! Nice neck (1 and 3/4") and plenty of boom on this blues thumper. Extremely pretty and one-of-a-kind. Albert Lee spent a lot of time ripping on this guitar at the NAMM Show, and has since ordered one just like it. He made it sing, and it sure looked good on him in a secret agent black J-185 kind of way....a special guitar that will inspire you! (SOLD) (JB) SOLD
Huss & Dalton OOO
All mahogany
Custom
Just arrived (USED) - We couldn't be Moe's House of Mahogany if we didn't have a world class all-mahogany guitar (or several) on hand. Here's the NAMM Show Special OOO custom (also pictured above in the shot with Jeff Huss, Steve, and Tim Nelson) This guitar is difficult to photograph but easy to love. We've sold the exact same model several times before and it has become the favorite guitar of its owners. It can be a litttle gritty, a little bluesy, quite spanky, LOUD, and well...good for your groove to have around. Nice wide neck (1 and 13/16") and plenty of room to move around. Extremely pretty in an old and understated way. Custom Red two-tone burst. Nice! Coming back on trade - could pass for new, but is priced $1000 less than new. SOLD
