Saturday Nov. 7, 2009 (7:30 PM) at Carnegie Hall in Pittsburgh. The double-bill was to include guitarist Kelly Joe Phelps, but sadly, KJP has cancelled his tour.
Australian Blueswoman Mia Dyson appeared in his place.
We've been privileged to know Ernie Hawkins for many years now. Ernie is among the finest practitioners and teachers of acoustic blues and ragtime guitar. We were honored recently to provide Ernie with his new Collings SJ guitar. That's Ernie with Bill Collings and Steve Miklas of Acoustic Music Works.

Ernie's Collings guitar is a flame maple SJ in short scale with cutaway and 1 and 3/4" nut width and sitka spruce top. It has nickel Waverly tuners with ebony buttons. He will run a K&K pickup in the guitar with K&K's external tube pre-amp.
We headed off to the NAMM Show in Nashville where we always find some great and unusual instruments. We are known for bringing back some mighty fine surprises from the NAMM Show. Last year we brought back the best surprise from the Collings booth
- the Big Kahuna: Bill Collings - himself! Bill was here at AMW Saturday evening (July 25, 2009) for an informal meet and greet and a discussion of his guitars, mandolins, and ukuleles.

(PITTSBURGH, PA for Immediate Release)—Mandolinist Butch Baldassari and his accompanist, guitarist Van Manakas appeared in concert at Duquesne University’s PNC Recital Hall on the first floor of Duquesne’s School of Music on Saturday November 5th, 2005 at 8:00 pm. The show was sponsored by the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra (PGHMO) who also played and accompanied Butch on several numbers and by Calliope, the Pittsburgh Folk Music Society. PNC Hall is located on the Duquesne campus adjacent to A.J. Palumbo Sports Center. Parking at the Forbes Garage located on Forbes Avenue one block west of the A.J. Palumbo Center. Butch also presented a bluegrass mandolin workshop on Friday November 4th from 7pm to 9pm in Squirrel Hill.

A series of four music workshops was held one Sunday per month over
the summer at Acoustic Music Works. Tim Bedner, a
seven-string guitarist and member of the Duquesne University School of Music
faculty, will facilitate the workshops.
The workshop dates and topics were:
May 23: "All About Chords", June 13: "Demystifying the Guitar Fretboard", July
11: "Cracking the Rhythm Code", and August 15: "Smart Practicing".
